Whinny and Mane Social Media Campaign- Student Project

Project Overview

Whinny & Mane Horse Sanctuary is a nonprofit equine rescue dedicated to providing refuge for unwanted and unadoptable wild horses while preparing young horses for adoption. The goal of this project was to expand the sanctuary’s social media presence beyond Facebook and create a more consistent visual presence that could reach a larger and more diverse audience. The campaign was designed to increase awareness of the organization, support fundraising efforts, and encourage people to donate or volunteer.

I developed a series of social media graphics using authentic horse photography, the sanctuary’s existing visual identity, and action-oriented messaging. The campaign targeted adults ages 35–65 across the United States and Canada who are sympathetic to animal rescue and motivated by emotional storytelling. The final designs used the established earth-tone color palette, typography, logo, and imagery guidelines to create a consistent and compassionate campaign across social platforms.

Researched Whinny & Mane’s mission, audience, and need to expand beyond Facebook to reach a larger audience through social media.

Step Two: Define

Established the campaign goals of increasing awareness, supporting fundraising, and encouraging audiences to donate or volunteer.

Step Three: Ideate

Explored horse photography, typography, color, textures, and calls to action to create an emotional and approachable campaign.

Step Four: Prototype

Developed multiple social media concepts using the sanctuary’s established logo, earth-tone palette, typography, imagery, and visual guidelines.

Step Five: Test

Refined the designs for readability, hierarchy, emotional impact, and brand consistency across the campaign.
